Theses in the Library Service collection

The holdings of the Library Service are reflected in the online library catalogue and the records of older items that are seldom used may still be found in the card catalogue.   To obtain a list of all the Microbiology dissertations reflected in the online library catalogue, type microbiology and dissertations in all fields of the keyword search. For Stellenbosch dissertations on microbiology, type microbiology stellenbosch and dissertations. A Library catalogue training programme, is available to guide clients through the various search options in the catalogue.

SUNScholar

SUNScholar is an electronic archive for the collection, preservation and distribution of digital theses, dissertations, research articles, inaugural addresses, conference proceedings etc.

Microbiology  theses are located on the upper level of the JS Gericke Library and are identified by blue markers on the shelves.


Theses elsewhere

Theses that cannot be found at the University of Stellenbosch might possibly be traced via the Union Catalogue for Theses and Dissertations (UCTD) on Sabinet Online. The Union Catalogue for Theses and Dissertations (UCTD) contains bibliographic records of theses and dissertations at masters and doctoral level submitted to universities in South Africa. Honorary doctorates are also included.

Digital dissertations (international)

Database of doctoral dissertations and master's theses. It represents the work of authors from over 1,000 graduate schools and universities. Some 47,000 new dissertations and 12,000 new theses are added to the database each year.
 

Interlibrary loans

The Library Service renders a free interlibrary loan service to all staff members, registered students and prospective postgraduate students of the University. It is important to check the online library catalogue to ensure that the required item is not held at the University of Stellenbosch Library Service before requesting an interlibrary loan.
